Genius Tools Straight Tip Aviation Snips
Genius Tools Straight Tip Aviation Snips are hand sheet metal cutters for HVAC ductwork, roofing, flashing and fabrication. The catalog lists forged Chrome Molybdenum Steel blades with serrated edges, which keep the sheet from sliding out of the cut.
Three versions are offered, each 250mm (10 inch) long. The left cut snip (511001L) cuts straight lines and tight curves to the left. The right cut snip (511002R) cuts straight and tight curves to the right. The straight cut snip (511003S) cuts straight and wide curves in both directions.
The blades are hardened to HRC 58 to 60, and the cutting edges are induction hardened to HRC 60 to 62, according to the catalog. Rated capacity is up to 1.2mm of cold rolled steel or 0.7mm of stainless.
Many sheet metal workers keep all three: a straight cut for long runs and a left and right pair for trimming and cutting curves in either direction without twisting the sheet.
