Genius Tools Metric Wobble Hex Bit Sockets 1/4" Dr.
A wobble hex bit socket has a shaped hex tip that can enter the screw head at an angle rather than only straight on. On a 1/4" drive ratchet this makes it easier to reach socket head screws behind brackets, hoses or housings where the handle cannot line up with the fastener.
This Genius Tools series comes in the metric sizes 3mm, 4mm, 5mm and 6mm. Each size is available in four overall lengths of 45mm, 70mm, 100mm and 140mm, giving 16 choices in total. Short versions fit tight engine bays and equipment panels, while the longer ones add reach into recesses.
All sockets are made of High Speed Tool Steel. A hard tip is important on wobble designs because the angled contact puts more load on the hex edges, and a tougher steel keeps them crisp for longer.
Wobble sockets are a useful partner to straight hex bit sockets rather than a replacement. Keep the straight version for full-torque tightening and reach for the wobble version when access is blocked and a small angle is all that stands between you and the screw.
