Genius Tools Machinists Files (2nd. Cut) are full-size hand files for shaping, deburring and fitting metal parts. The second cut grade sits between a coarse bastard cut and a fine smooth cut, so it removes material at a useful rate while leaving a finish ready for final touch-up.
Every shape is offered in four sizes: 6, 8, 10 and 12 inch, with overall lengths of 250mm, 300mm, 370mm and 420mm. Smaller files are easier to control on small components, and larger files cover broad surfaces with fewer strokes.
The five shapes cover most bench work. The flat file squares and smooths faces and edges. The round file enlarges and shapes holes. The half round file handles both flat and curved surfaces. The square file cleans slots and keyways, and the triangle file reaches into angles, corners and thread clean-up.
With 20 combinations available, machinists, fabricators and maintenance technicians can build a file set tailored to their work.
