Square-headed fasteners are still found on machinery, agricultural equipment, valves, older vehicles and some drain and fill plugs. Genius Tools Double Square Hand Sockets (8-Point) with a 1/4 inch drive are made to turn them properly instead of forcing a hex socket that does not fit.
The series has five sizes: 8mm and 10mm metric, and 1/4 inch, 5/16 inch and 3/8 inch SAE. That covers the small square fasteners most often met in maintenance work.
An 8-point, or double square, opening can engage a square head at eight positions, so you only need a small turn of the ratchet to seat the socket. Each socket is a compact 25mm long.
The sockets are made of Chrome Vanadium Steel, a durable alloy used in quality hand tools. Use them with any 1/4 inch drive ratchet, spinner handle or extension. Having the right square socket on hand saves time and avoids damaging old square-head hardware that may be hard to replace.
