Genius Tools Aluminum Pipe Wrenches (Cr-V)
The Genius Tools Aluminum Pipe Wrench in the Cr-V version combines an aluminum body with a Chrome Vanadium Steel hook jaw. The body keeps the tool light, and the steel jaw does the gripping on pipe, couplings and round bar.
Long pipe wrenches are heavy, which is exactly where aluminum pays off. This series is offered in 14, 18, 24, 36 and 48 inch lengths; in the catalog the 36 inch wrench weighs about 5000 g and the 48 inch about 8000 g.
The Chrome Vanadium Steel hook jaw rocks into the work as force is applied, so the harder you pull, the firmer the grip. That makes it practical for making up new threaded joints and for breaking loose old ones.
Choose the 14 or 18 inch wrench for general commercial plumbing and the 24 to 48 inch sizes for large-diameter lines, pump and valve work, and any joint where long-handle leverage is the only way to get it moving.
